Christian Performance Theatre is excited to offer a variety of theatre classes this spring. Students have
the opportunity to become fully immersed in music theater by enrolling in our Enrollment Show/Class,
Doctor Dolittle Jr. or focus on developing their skills in voice, dance, or drama in a Thursday
evening class. Classes meet weekly throughout the spring session and are offered on Tuesday or Thursday
evenings. During the last week of class, a high-energy showcase is presented by each class to showcase
what they have learned for their friends and family.
If you are registering for a Thursday
night class, please list your 1st and 2nd choice. Class sizes are limited and our website allows you to

With fun songs, active movements, and a delightful script, your budding students will make you proud with their newfound and developed skills. We will be singing and acting like animals with our play-off of Doctor Dolittle! We will explore sounds, body language, creative movements and have a great time together! CYT alum and CPT's Cinderella, Rachel Schmidt, brings her experience and heart for teaching little ones to create a fun time for your student!
Ages 8-16
Instructors: Tucker Tasker, Grace Owens, Abigail Hale
The musical tells the classic tale of a wacky, but kind, doctor who can talk to animals, taking
the audience on a journey from the small English village of Puddleby-on-the-Marsh to the far
corners of the world. When Doctor Dolittle attempts to help a seal named Sophie, he’s wrongly
accused of murder and stands trial before General Bellowes. Once pronounced innocent, Dolittle
is free to continue with his search for the Great Pink Sea Snail — the oldest and wisest of the
creatures on earth.
Enrollment Show Classes are designed to give a taste of the
production experience. Auditions will be held at the first class to determine roles. Acting,
singing, and choreography are taught weekly. Though much less commitment than a full production,
parents and families of the cast are encouraged to get involved with sets, costumes, backstage,
or any number of departments that bring the experience together. Students enrolled in the class
are automatically cast in the show.

Instructor: Grace Owens
CYT Alum and multi-time instructor and choreographer Ms. Grace is ready to take our ACT 1
students to a new level of dramatic skills. The basics of improvisational scene work will
be included to develop creativity, mental flexibility, and thinking skills. We will take
risks, overcome fears, and open up to other ideas, how to support them and build on them to
develop strong characters and make bold choices.

Ages 8-12
Instructor: Nicole Cox
Ms. Nicole is our choreographer for Peter Pan and brings her upbeat stylings to the classroom to encourage and develop your young performer. Jazz dance includes strength, flexibility, conditioning, turns, kicks, and leaps. In a Jazz class, the dancers also learn many fun dance steps that are used for all forms of dance. It is a wonderful class to get a well-rounded variety of all dance steps.
Ages 13-18
Instructor: Natalie Hale
Contemporary dance gives students the ability to transform a performance based on their own interpretations. This class is designed to help them learn how to hone in on certain techniques. We will focus on areas like ballet-influenced leg movements, fall and recovery, floor work, and further improvisational elements. No matter your skill level, body type, or experience, this class will move you to move. The versatility of the genre allows the dancer to use the direction of a storyline and music to form characters and entire theatrical performances that stray away from the more traditional methods of storytelling.
Ages 13-18
Instructor: Caleb Neu
CYT alum Caleb Neu is back and in full swing with an intro to Musical Theatre. Enjoy drama,
dance, and vocals in this well-rounded instructive class. This may be core in name but you'll be
pushed to bring together a fun, energetic musical number to the showcase floor. Dynamic
characterization, vibrant vocals, and lively choreography....without losing a step. It will be a
MEGA good time!

Ages 13-18
Instructor: Addison Owens
CYT alum and recent Sterling College grad, Ms. Addy brings her theatrical experience and writing prowess to teach students how to analyze scripts and produce their own creative work. Students will learn character development, plot, structure, suspense, and tension, as well as the conventions of various genres. The aim of this course is to emphasize the importance of identifying good scriptwriting and will enhance understanding of the integral elements of story and script creation. Students will learn how to develop a story while writing and performing their own scripts and monologues.
Ages 13-18
Instructor: Rebekah Clark
Ms. Rebekah is new to CPT but not new to improv. She's been a performer with multiple improv
groups but most recently with the Christian comedy team "Pun Intended". The course will help you
learn the fundamental tools of improv through engaging exercises and group gameplay designed to
bolster your soft skills (agreement, active listening, being supportive, etc.). This classroom
provides a safe environment to explore your creative potential and experience the freedom and
joy of improvisational play.
Prerequisite: ACT 2 Core Drama

Ages 13-18
Instructor: Rebeccah Hale
Ms. Rebeccah brings an acapella course designed to teach you how to make your voice sound more
powerful, how to use vocal technique to expand your range and expression, and how to become more
confident in vocal performances. Acapella singing also helps singers learn how to rely on their
ear rather than an accompanist or background instrumentalist by use of developed muscle memory
in the vocal cords to find those pitches. This discipline is a commitment to the pursuit of
musical excellence through the development of the human voice and its vast array of artistic
expression.
Prerequisite: ACT 2 Core Voice
